Having never been officially married in the UK (I took that step when I was living in New Zealand), I can’t tell you what you can expect from a meeting with a registrar who might officiate a wedding.

But with me, it’s fairly simple. Firstly, I’ll take you through how a ceremony might be structured. I have a list of bullet points and take you through step by step – from the opening words (usually said before anyone is walked up the aisle and often just reminding people to put their phones on silent!) through to the exchanging of rings and closing words, where I would invite everyone to offer their congratulations to the beautiful couple.

However I’m always keen to remind couples that the structure I’m offering is only a suggestion – you are free to put things in any order that you like.

After that it becomes all about you! I’ll be keen to find our your unique story, what your big day is going to be like and anyone special who is going to be involved.

It’s probably one of my favourite parts of being a wedding celebrant, in that first meeting you get to find out such lovely details about how couples met, their proposal and their hopes for the future. It’s those special details that I love to pour into the wedding ceremony in order to make each one unique.

Get in touch with me today to talk through what you’re looking for in a wedding celebrant.
